Just a little bit naughty...

Well as much as I like to wax lyrical about the virtues of a diet full of fruit, veggies and all deliciously healthy foods, sometimes an apple just will not do the trick.

But there is a way of having your cake and eating it, you've just got to be a little more mindful of what you put in the cake and your mouth.

Here is my orange polenta cake,

Recipes will be available soon on my website, watch this sapce!

Unfortunately you don't get to add the orange zest and juice to your 5 a day list but you can give yourself a pat on the back for the lack of saturated fats and processed sugars.

I replaced butter with olive oil and used unrefined golden caster sugar instead of white caster sugar. The olive oil is only 14 % saturated fat where as butter is a whopping 61%! And just incase you were tempted, step away from the margarine, that is still 25% saturated fat and is also a "trans-fat" so double bad, in simple terms this means more chemical processing and terrible repercussions in the body. The unrefined sugar is still no saint but at least it has not gone through the chemical processing of removing every last nutrient from the the sugar cane that it started in. So although its still not perfect it actually plays less havoc with our blood sugar levels than the white stuff which will result in less sugar cravings.

So although this is still a little sinful, it it trying to be good!!

And just a little note on the fat content's long lasting effects on our bodies. It's up to you, but what would you rather have, 14% or 61% cellulite?
